Mammoth Cave became a National Park in 1941. Canoeing the Green, you can experience one way early settlers found new homes during westward expansion. Nature has taken its course along the Green River and has, in many areas, reclaimed the environmental conditions of 200 years ago. Canoers can expect to encounter deer, beaver, fox, bobcat, wild turkey, a large variety of birds, and several different species of fish such as muskie, small mouth bass, and catfish.
